ACADEMIC YEAR 2013 – 2014

Co curricular activities improve the leadership qualities and other skills of a person. We are very proud that our students have been part of many competitions conducted in our college and various other institutes. They have won many prizes too. The list of competitions and students participated are included in this report.

2013-14

  • Robotics competition conducted by IIT, Bombay was held at our college and so many students participated. 5 students were selected for the final competition held at IIT, Bombay. Nadeem Noushad was one among them.

 

 

ACADEMIC YEAR 2014 – 2015

  • A bridge building competition conducted by IIT, Bombay was held at our college and a team of 5 students got first prize and they got selected for the final competition at IIT, Bombay. The students are:

Internships and industrial visits are the main way to understand an organization. They provide the practical knowledge and field experience for a student. It will equip a student with all the skills that he/she need in his future. Our students have done internships and industrial visits in various organizations.

Internships:-

  • National Technical Cell had conducted a seven day special camping programme on “Empowering comsumers for energy efficiency “ at ACE College of Engineering dated from 19th March 2016.

ACADEMIC YEAR 2016 – 2017

During this year, the main activity that they had conducted was the internship program .The entire student community was divided into two teams. The first team went to Nirmithi Kendra PTP Nagar. The second team had subteams and they did the internship training under the guidance of Habitat technology Poojappura.

 

 

AT NIRMITHI KENDRA:

The team had  13  members .The members are-  B.Reshma, Bincy raj, Shijina ,Sreedevi,  K V,Keerthy suresh,Shehanaz,Aishwarya lekshmi,Aravind,Sanuraj,Sunu raj,Akhin and Shabeen.

They had the internship program from 12/07/16 to 16/07/16. Their first class was at Nirmithi Kendra and it was headed by Aravind sir. Second and third day was at Central polytechnic (CPT) Vatiyoorkavu.

At CPT they  were taught different test to check the strength and quality of building materials, setting out ,manufacturing of hollow blocks etc.

4th day they went to a construction site of Nirmithi which was near the Central Civil Station Kudapanakunnu.

Last day they again gathered at Nirmithi Kendra  and we submitted the reports and  got their certificates.

It was a good experience as we were exposed into a new world of construction and building. Our classes mainly dealt with sustainable engineering practices.The visits to construction sites gave us lot of practical knowledge.

 

AT THE HABITAT CENTRE

  • The second batch was again split up into four teams.
  • Their first class was at Habitat Technology Office at Poojappura that was headed by Architect Madhusoodhanan and rest of the days they visited construction sites under the guidance of various architects.
  • They had site engineers to explain various construction aspects of each building that they visited.
  • Pradeep,Suresh,Sudharshanan were the site engineers who helped us in construction sites.
  • The team members of each group are:
  1. Anushka,Gopika,Nikhil,Feroz,Rashid,Adarsh,Ebinsha. They went to construction sites at AKG Nagar,Peroorkada,Thirumala,Magic planet etc.
  2. Asifa, Keerthy K V,Asif Hussain,Ashish anil,Adil,Rahul Rajendran,Arfas A R,Anees Mohammed. They went to see building construction at Kowdiar,Statue,Pongamooduetc
  3. Karthik,Nainesh,Prijo,James,Nandhu,Jyothish and Meenakshy. They went to Womens college, Shameer Apartments Thonakkal,Karyavattom etc.
  4. Ashiq Samad A,Riyas,Fayaz,Souya,Sabin,Mahadevan,Amal Krishnan. They went to Sreekaryam,Kaimanam,Pappanamcode,Pongamoodu.
  • In all these construction sites they could see low cost and green building materials that were used to construct residential as well as Business buildings.
  • Manglore tiles were used for flooring to give cooling effect, solar lighting, maximum ventillations, walls were constructed of interlock bricks with minimum cement, avoiding plastering work, pile construction in marshy areas and so on.
  • In total the internship programme was a valuable and innovative one. They got a chance to think out of the box. This had inspired all the students who have been a part of the internship.
